Step-by-step walkthrough
Step 1: Add display conditions. Apply display logic to questions or pages to show them only when specific conditions are met.
Step 2: Write conditional expressions. SurveyEngine uses a simple expression language - for example {Q1} == 'Yes' shows a follow-up question only if Q1 was answered yes.
Step 3: Pipe responses back to respondents. Use variable references in text blocks to show a respondent's earlier answer in later question wording.
Step 4: Build branching logic. Chain multiple conditions to create complex survey paths - different respondent groups can see entirely different question sequences.
Step 5: Test all paths. Use the preview mode to test each branch of your logic before deploying to respondents.
