Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially astute Bid Manager to join our team. This is critical role that supports the sales team by taking structured inbound sales enquiries, developing accurate project costings and ultimately customer quotes. The Bid Manager will work within pre-defined pricing structures, markups, and margin guidelines to ensure profitability of projects but will also have a risk-management mindset to identify and address potential project risks.


What You’ll do

  • Take all briefs from the sales team from inbound opportunities.
  • Interpret and clarify sales briefs to fully understand client requirements and project scope.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates and quotations in alignment with internal pricing strategies and predefined markup/margin targets.
  • Collaborate with internal departments of Tech, Admin an Production but also trusted Vendors to gather accurate costing inputs.
  • Prepare and deliver timely, professional, and competitive bid proposals for customer review.
  • Maintain and update pricing templates, costing tools, and standardised bid documentation.
  • Track and report on bid success rates, identifying areas for improvement and optimisation
  • Ensure all bids meet both client expectations and internal commercial targets
  • Assist with post-bid reviews and provide feedback to the sales and commercial teams.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in a similar Bid Manager, Estimator, or Proposal Management role.
  • Strong commercial awareness with a solid understanding of margin and markup strategies.
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other quoting or project costing software.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders and interpret sales briefs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple bids simultaneously to tight deadlines.
  • Highly organized with a methodical approach to managing documentation and processes.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Accounting, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
  • Familiarity with CRM and Accounting systems.
  • Experience in sales, cost-accounting or tendering
